![Rachel's Pushin' 50 but it ain't pushin' back !!! : Rachels Birthday ~ The SNATCH QUEEN goes 50!
This is a gallery of photos I shot on October 29th 2005. It was Rachel's 50th birthday [or as she referred to it: "my 2nd 25th anniversary" [Denial comes wrapped many different ways...].
This gal is one hot mama. She is also known as the Snatch Queen for her prowess executing that competitive lift in World Class weightlifting events. Other folks call her Skipper, but I just call her my darlin'. Rachel has stood by me through thick and thin right along with hubby Mr. Earle and their delightful daughter cum actress Charlotte Rose--Charloonie to those brave enough to say it to her face.
This blow out took place at a sensational Blues & Soul club in Oakland, CA called Eli's Mile High.
The band for the evening was the Diminished Capacity Revue, consisting of Rachel's husband Bill [Mr. Earle] Locke, lead vocalist; David [Skyboy] Meadows, alto sax; Todd [Knuckles] Boekelheide, tenor sax & accordion; Chris [Duck] Hunt, keyboards, mandolin & whatever-else-is-needed, David [Flash] Feld {aka the Great Feldini}, bass guitar, rhythm & noise; and Jeff [????] on drums. But we must be certain NOT to forget the inimitable Norma [Roxy] Danzieger belting out the soulful lyrics of the East Bay's best music.
Diminished Capacity is an amalgamation of fellas who went to Law school at Berkeley's Boalt Hall. They discovered in one another a mutual love for down and dirty blues, kick-ass rock n roll, funk, country and just about any musical genre you can think of. Being law students, and wiseguys of the iconoclast stripe, they put together songs that trade on early R&R classics, creating such lyrics as "Each night I ask the judge without fail, why must I be a teenager in jail?", etc.
The Band settled on the name Diminished Capacity partly in response to the absurdity of the "diminished capacity' defense SF Supervisor Dan Whites lawyers mounted in his slaying of SF Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk Nov 27 1978. Now get this: Dan White claimed he was not responsible for the murders because of diminished capacity owing to the white sugar contained in the TWINKIES and junk food he gorged on while under great stress as a San Francisco Supervisor. Anyway, this splendid nights hoop-La drew folks from as far away at New York, New Jersey, Colorado, Washington State and Palookavilles of one sort or another. I guess we numbered in the 90s to 100s of screaming lunatics who came out of the woodwork to help Rachel slide into the realm of being in her fifties. She fought kickin & screamin, but Im here to tell you it did NO GOOD.
